Chapter 0696
"""Besides, she's nowhere near my mom's age-she looks about the sage as me."
After finishing his questioning, the officer turned back to Suzy. "Do you know the deceased?"
"No, | don't," Suzy replied calmly. "As he just said, | don't know the victim at all. Why would | kill someone I've
never even met? And why would | be so foolish as to commit murder in broad daylight?"
"Even if you didn't know her, that doesn't mean you couldn't kill her!" Vivian's son shouted, his emotions boiling
over.
He jabbed his finger toward Suzy, his face twisted with rage.
"You murdered my mom! Stop lying and admit it! Officer, arrest her already! She killed my mother, and she must
pay for it!"
The officers tried to calm him down.
"Sir, please calm yourself. We understand you're grieving the loss of your mother, but whether she committed
the cror not will require further investigation."

scene means we need you to cwith us for further questioning."
And with that, Suzy was taken into custody.
It was the first tin her life she'd been taken to the police station in such a
manner.
After giving her statement, Suzy made a request. "Can | make a phone call to my family?"
Once granted permission, she called Allen. "I'm at the police station. Cover."
Allen didn't think much of it at first, assuming Suzy was at the station for routine business. He had no idea she'd
been arrested as a murder suspect.
When he arrived at the station and learned that Suzy was being held as a
suspect, his face darkened. "Murder? That's impossible! You must have the wrong person!"
Allen refrained from saying too much before seeing Suzy, as he didn't fully understand the situation yet.
One of the officers asked him, "What's your relationship with Suzy?"
Allen pressed his lips together briefly before answering, "I'm her friend."
"A friend?" The officer frowned. "Where's her family?"
"Her father's in poor health and can't come, and her brother is overseas," Allen replied. "Why? Is being a friend
not enough?"
"Normally, it's better if family members are present, but if there aren't any, there's nothing we can do," the
officer explained briefly to Allen before outlining Suzy's situation.
"She's suspected of murdering Vivian Watson. Until the investigation is complete, she won't be allowed to leave."
Allen frowned deeply. "Can | see her?"
"You can, but it can't be longer than ten minutes."
"Understood."
With the officer's arrangement, Allen was finally able to see Suzy.
"Boss, we've been set up!" Allen said as soon as they were face-to-face.
Suzy gestured for him to lower his voice. "Since they want to putbehind bars,
I'll play along. Leave everything outside to you.
"And one more thing... look into Vivian's son. Find out what they offered him to make him abandon his own

"I should've gone with you. At least then, | could've had your back," Allen said, his frustration evident.
"Even if you had, we wouldn't have been locked up together. When have you ever seen male and female
prisoners kept in the scell?"
"How can you still joke at a tlike this?" Allen looked visibly unsettled.
"What do you think they're really trying to do?"
"Whatever it is, I'll see it through to the end."
