Dylan never expected Suzy to make such a dire oath about herself.
He immediately tried to pull his hand back, but Suzy held on tightly.
"Suzy..."
She cut him off before he could continue. "Hurry up and repeat after me!"
"Suzy..."
Dylan's tone grew more serious. "There are sthings you really shouldn't say lightly."
"What do you mean by 'lightly'? Is it because you know you can't keep your promise, so you're refusing to say
it?" Suzy shot him a cold smile.
"Dylan, whether you say it or not, the oath still stands. If you don't want something to happen to me, you'd
better follow through. Otherwise, I..."
Before she could finish, Dylan gave a firm tug and pulled her into his arms. "You really are one of a kind. | don't
think there's another woman like you in the world."
Suzy smirked. "Exactly. So, you'd better cherishproperly because you won't find another one like me."

"You'd better not be." Suzy looked up at him intently.
"Dylan, you've lost both legs because of me. The Wright Corporation took a massive hit just a few days ago. And
Diana... Every single one of these things is tied to me.
"Even though Grandma has never blamed me, | can't just pretend like nothing happened. If it weren't for me,
none of you would have to endure these things. | owe all of you more than | can ever repay."
"It was all my choice," Dylan said firmly, unwilling to hear another word about debts or blame.
"Diana chose it, too. Just like Grandma said before-we're a family. You don't need to divide everything so clearly."
"It's not the same," Suzy replied, her voice tinged with bitterness.
"Grandma and Diana have been so good tothat it makesfeet guilty. hadn't approached them with a
hidden agenda from the beginning, | might not feel this way.
"But from the start, | had ulterior motives when I got close to them. | don't deserve
the kindness they've shown me."
"You shouldn't think that way," Dylan said, his tone softening as he noticed how sensitive Suzy had become.
"Remember, the only reason you approached them was because you wanted to be with me. There wasn't any
other purpose. And they don't care about that at all. So why burden yourself with all this guilt?"
"It's precisely because they don't care that | feel unworthy of them!" Suzy said, her voice tinged with frustration.
"Even after they found out | used them, not only did they not blme, but they treatedeven better than
before.
"When | think about it honestly-if it
were me, could | do the same? The answer is no. I've always been
someone who can't stand being taken advantage of.
"If someone used me, | wouldn't just let it go, let alone treat them kindly. I'd make sure to pay them back a
hundredfold..."
Suzy let out a bitter laugh, self-mockery written all over her face. "And if it were you, could you do it? No, you
couldn't. You're just like me."
She looked straight at Dylan. "That's why Grandma and Diana's kindness means
so much to me. | don't ever want anything to happen to them.

Seeing how emotional Suzy had become, Dylan pressed his lips into a tight line before finally nodding. "I
understand."
His response showed that he had taken her words to heart, but Suzy still wasn't satisfied. "I need you to swear
it."
"Do | really have to?"
"Yes!" Suzy said without a moment's pause.
"You have to say it exactly as I've asked. Otherwise, | won't believe you!"
