Chapter 204 You're Expecting Twins! Kelvin frowned slightly. "That's it?" he remarked, a hint of disappointment in his tone.

"Mr. Davis, in a hospital, no news is the best news," he replied.

"Is she in a condition to conceive again?" Kelvin continued.

"For now, the priority is to continue strengthening Mrs. Davis' health. As for having children, Mr. Davis, let's leave that to fate," Dr. Harry advised.

Kelvin grunted in acknowledgment.

Just then, Ryan called again.

Kelvin stepped aside to take the phone call.

Seizing the moment, Penelope whispered, "How are the babies?" "Stable, everything looks good for now; just make sure you keep up with the medications. And..." Dr. Harry glanced over discreetly at the hidden item.

Penelope leaned in eagerly, and asked, "And what?" "You're carrying... twins," he added.

She blinked, not quite comprehending at first.

"Twins will certainly take a toll, and there are greater risks, especially with your delicate health," Dr. Harry explained, "Mrs. Davis, if you want to deliver these two safely, it's going to be tough." Penelope placed her hand on her belly.

She wasn't just pregnant - she was carrying two lives! She wondered, 'if it was because of the baby I had lost before as if it couldn't bear to leaveand had returned.' A wave of emotion washed over Penelope, who was now responsible for three lives.

"I understand," Penelope answered as she nodded, her eyes resolute and clear. "No matter the hardship, I'm going to bring them into this world." Dr. Harry nodded in approval. "Any discomfort and you reach out toright away," he advised as he handed her his card.

Penelope replied. "Thank, vou." "You're welcome," Dr. Harry replied with a smile. "Minnie madepromise to take good care of you; she'd have my hide if I didn't." "Minnie always appears carefree, but she is careful," Penelope acknowledged.

"Yes, we've been classmates for years; I know her well," Dr. Harry agreed.

Kelvin ended his call and approached them. "What are you guys talking about?" he inquired.

"Just ssmall talk," Penelope answered. "Can we go now?" "Yes," he said, his hand gently resting on her waist. "Penelope, you're too thin." Her slender waist felt fragile under his touch as if a little pressure could break her. "Slim?" Penelope chuckled. "I was truly slim when we just got married. At the mental hospital, there were days when I didn't eat for three or four in a row." As she spoke, laughter escaped her, "You know, at my lowest, I had to scrounge for food with stray dogs. Gross, right? But it was either that or starvation..." Kelvin's lips pressed into a thin line, with his heart ached. "Don't, Penelope," he pleaded, hating himself even more.

"If you don't want to hear it, then fine, it's all in the past anyway." Penelope's smile grew sweeter, and said, "I survived those hard times; I believe it can only get better from here." Kelvin pulled her tightly into his embrace, and remarked, "It will, definitely." He'd give her everything he had to see her smile.

He was determined to make Penelope the happiest woman in LA.

Leaning in his arms, Penelope felt numb.

She couldn't feel the heat of Kelvin's love, and her thoughts raced toward escape, the farther, the better.

His love was something she couldn't bear.

Penelope thought of Kelvin as the only man she had deeply loathed yet also deeply loved.

There were too many obstacles between them.

"Kelvin," Penelope called out.

"I'm here," Kelvin answered.

"I want to visit my dad," she requested.

After a few seconds of silence, Kelvin agreed, "Okay." However, he didn't go himself, instructing the driver to take her to the detention center instead.

He would never meet Mr. Cooper., who was his father's murderer and yet... his father-in-law.

With such a contradictory identity, how should Kelvin face him? So, the choice was not to see him.

In the prison visiting room, Mr. Cooper looked at her and said, "Penelope, are you doing all right? Has Kelvin been treating you well?" "Dad, I'm good," Penelope assured him.

"Don't lie to me; you always hide your troubles and share only good news," Mr. Cooper replied.

Penelope responded with sincerity, "Dad, I really am doing better. And soon, I'll be able to get you out of here!" Mr. Cooper was surprised, and asked, "Getout?" "Yes." She nodded confidently, and explained, "Dad, I've dug up sthings about the past and wanted to check with you." Mr. Cooper replied, "Go ahead." "Mr. Davis Sr. died rapidly after you administered an injection. That drug was borrowed from another hospital, right?" Penelope questioned.

Mr. Cooper nodded, and answered, "Yes, there was no stock there, so I used my connections to get it. It was hard to cby and expensive, and few people could afford it. But the Davis family was filthy rich; the cost was nothing to them, so I gave him the injection." "Who brought you that vial of medicine? Was it his youngest son?" Penelope asked.

"Yes," Mr. Cooper recalled, "He went with the nurse and was back quickly, handing the medication to me." "Was there anything off about it?" Penelope added.

"It was sealed, brand new, unopened.

So, I took it and administered then shot to Mr Davis Sr. without a Mr.

second thought... And then," he trailed off. The tragedy unfolded from there.

"The syringe was intact, but what about the medicine inside?" Penelope continued to probe.

Mr. Cooper paused, and remarked, "I couldn't tell, and you can't distinguish these things with the naked eye!. all colorless and odorless liquids. How could I know? Penelope, are you suggesting there was something wrong with the medicine in the syringe?" Penelope coldly replied, "Yes."

"That's not possible," Mr. Cooper asserted. "I borrowed it from a former intern of mine, who I trained myself. ΕΠ How could he possibly harm me!" Penelope revealed, "Dad, it was the person who fetched the medicine, Mr. Davis Sr.'s second son, Anthony." Mr. Cooper fell silent, his face etched with confusion and, slowly, shock.

"Penelope, are you saying..." Mr. Cooper stammered.

Penelope silenced him just in time, "Dad, wait for my news. I'll have you out of here legit and soon." Mr. Cooper gripped her hand, and cautioned, "Penelope, promise you'll take care of yourself!" He knew all too well how difficult the situation was.

"I've gotten used to this place, Penelope. Don't worry about me. You're still young with a bright future ahead, so don't throw it away because of me. Do you hear me, Penelope?" Mr. Cooper insisted.

"I understand, Dad," Penelope answered, gently.

The ones who truly loved and cared for her couldn't bear for her to take any risks, hoping only for her safety, even at their own expense.

Love is reciprocal.

Penelope could ask Kelvin to release her father, and he would agree, but that wasn't the outcshe wanted.

The person might be set free, but the hatred would remain unresolved.
