“Mom,” David greeted coolly as he walked over.

Caroline's husband?”

It was late, and the dim glow of the moon and streetlights cast soft shadows over her face.
But sure enough, her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, a thin layer of moisture clinging to her lashes. Her nose
was slightly red, making her look pitiful.
David's lips slowly curved upward. “You're right. That was my mistake-I shouldn't have made her cry.”
