Chapter 992: The First Three Months Are Crucial Warren stepped down from his position long ago, and he understood the nuances of the situation without needing much explanation. His questions held no ulterior motives but were driven by his concern for Tina.

"If even the hidden families can't deal with her, it means she's incredibly calculated. When you and Jared face off against her, always leave yourselves a way out. Don't confront her unless necessary. Your safety comes first," Warren said earnestly, his voice filled with genuine worry.

Hearing Warren speak with such gravity warmed Tina's heart. "I will, Grandpa," she assured him softly.

Warren smiled with relief and said no more.

As he aged, achievements and honors had becfleeting memories to him. At this point in his life, seeing his children and grandchildren thriving-and even anticipating the arrival of a great-grandchild-brought him more satisfaction than anything else. Fate had been kind to him; he had everything he could wish for.

When Jared returned, Tina was surrounded by her family, all showering her with care and attention.

The moment her uncle walked in, Tina's excitement outdid everyone else's. Right now, all she wanted to do was escape.

No one knew their child better than a parent, and Ruud's reaction upon realizing the situation was far more exaggerated than Tina had anticipated. Compared to her mother's calm demeanor, her father seemed to have taken on a mother's role instead.

Every word he spoke seemed to target Tina's nerves deliberately.

If not for the presence of her grandparents, Tina might very well have lost her patience. She'd rather have a straightforward argument than sit there listening to his endless nagging.

Jared walked in carrying bags filled with medicine, making Tina frown. "You actually went to get the medicine?" Jared looked at her indulgently, his tone serious. "Of course. These are the tonics your mom specifically asked for to protect the baby. They're made from the best ingredients and good for your health. I'll prepare them for you to drink when we get home." "Forto drink?" Tina froze and turned to Alina. "When did you two conspire to do this?" She had been by their side the whole time; how had they exchanged the prescriptions without her noticing? And Jared had managed to get everything without missing a single thing.

Alina, unfazed by Tina's reaction, took the medicine bags from Jared and inspected them. She nodded in approval. "Take a few doses first to nourish your blood and energy. Cback in a few days for a checkup." Jared listened intently and committed everything to memory.

Tina, however, stared at the medicine bags with a growing headache.

Being a doctor didn't mean she liked taking medicine-especially not traditional tonics.

Alina glanced at Tina, her eyes gleaming as she added, "She's hated medicine since she was a child. You need to make sure she finishes every drop. Not a single sip left!" Tina was speechless.

Her mother's ruthlessness left no doubt about their familial bond. Not even at a tlike this would she let her off the hook.

When they left, Tina walked to the car and had just opened the passenger door when Jared stopped her.

Meeting her puzzled gaze, he personally opened the back door and guided her inside. "It's safer in the back," he said.

Tina was rendered speechless again.

She glanced at her uncle, whose hand was tightly holding hers. Finally, she couldn't resist asking, "So, who's driving?" Jared checked his phone, and a few seconds later, they heard hurried footsteps outside.

Nathan rushed over, opening the driver's side door. "Mr. Farrell, ma'am, I'm sorry I'm late!" Tina felt her eyelid twitch.

She tried to reassure herself-her uncle was probably just overly cautious right now. Once the initial shock wore off, he'd be back to normal. He had to be.

At a red light, the car cto a sudden stop behind another vehicle. Jared instinctively extended his arm to shield Tina, his brows furrowing. "Nathan, keep a safer distance from the car ahead." Nathan didn't notice anything unusual. "Oh, sure, Mr. Farrell." Ten minutes later, as the car sped around a curve on an overpass, Jared frowned again. "Nathan, watch your speed." Nathan hesitated for a moment but obediently slowed down.

Before they were even halfway home, Nathan noticed Jared staring intently out the windshield, as though facing a mortal threat. Years of working with him hadn't been for nothing-Nathan immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.

He dropped the speed from 80 to 60 miles per hour, but Jared's expression remained unchanged.

Finally, Nathan gritted his teeth and slowed to 30 miles per hour.

Checking the rearview mirror again, he finally saw a slight shift in Jared's expression.

Relieved, Nathan discreetly wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Luckily, after so many years with Mr. Farrell, he had learned to read even the smallest changes in his demeanor.

Tina, however, was at a loss for words.

Could she get out of the car now? Would she even make it htoday? Whether it was the car's price or the intimidating aura of its passengers, the vehicle crawled along at a turtle's pace without a single honk from behind.

Half an hour later, the car cto a smooth stop outside their home.

Tina opened the door to step out, but Jared immediately grabbed her hand. "Tina, hold on to me." Nathan quickly got out and rushed to help. "Ma'am, are you alright?" Tina let out a cold laugh, standing straight. "Do I look like there's something wrong with me?" Nathan froze.

Jared shot him a glance. "Bring the medicine inside. Cby early tomorrow morning." Nathan hurried to the trunk and was stunned by the sheer amount of medicine.

No wonder Mr. Farrell had been so on edge-Mrs. Farrell must really have been unwell.

As soon as they were inside, Jared carried Tina straight to the bedroom, setting her down gently on the bed. He even tucked the blanket around her carefully.

Tina took a deep breath, placing her hand on Jared's shoulder to stop him. "Uncle, I'm pregnant, not incapacitated. You don't need to be this nervous."

He had refused to let her touch the door, carried her from the entrance to the bedroom, and even insisted on changing her shoes himself. At this rate, she wouldn't be surprised if he started feeding her. Was he overreacting?

Jared sat beside her, pulling her into his arms. His tone was soft yet firm. "Tina, I asked the doctor at the m hospital The first three months of pregnancy are crucial. This is our first child. I'll take care of you both and make sure nothing happens to either of you." Tina wanted to say she understood his feelings, but before she could, Jared stood up. "Be good and rest in bed. You barely ate today, so I'll cook something for you." Tina sighed.

Did he even listen to what she said? Forget it. Right now, there was no reasoning with him. She decided to let him be and talk to him properly later that evening.

Her phone buzzed, pulling her attention. It was a message from Hayden on WhatSerena, m where did you find this pitiful kid? I've been talking to him all morning, and he hasn't reacted at all. Is he mute or something?" Clearly, Hayden was hiding from Jennie and secretly messaging her.

Tina replied, "His nis Oliver. Try to guide him gently and see if you can get him to open up. Don't makelook down on you for failing with a child." This kind of challenge worked like a charm on Hayden.

Within seconds, he responded: "Serena, you can question my professional skills, but never doubt my ability to get someone to talk. A five-year-old? I refuse to believe he doesn't like anything." Smiling at his response, Tina replied, "I'll stop by tomorrow to check your progress." Hayden sent back a giant "OK" emoji almost immediately.

Just as she was about to set her phone down, her ringtone went off. It was Jennie calling.

Tina paused.
