Chapter 202 "...still no confirmation on whether Ms. Rossi has regained consciousness. What we know for certain is that the vehicle carrying Isabella Rossi collided with an eastbound transport truck late Monday morning, resulting in the death of the truck's driver. Authorities have yet to release further information regarding the investigation." The news anchor shifted to another camera angle. A photo of Izzy flashed on the screen-one of her recent public appearances at the Weiss INC's charity gala. Below it, a banner read; ISABELLA ROSSI IN COMA DRIVER DEAD.
Izzy sat on the couch, a pillow tucked behind her back. Her movements were limited, but her eyes were sharp. She watched the screen for a few more seconds before glancing at Liam.
"Do you think this will work?" she asked.
Liam didn't answer right away. He sliced a piece of apple and then held it up to her. Izzy took a bite and chewed slowly. "Obviously," he said.
She looked at the screen again. "Are you sure those doctors won't say anything?" Liam picked up another slice. "They're my doctors. They live in the compound." Izzy nodded once.
There was a knock at the door. Liam turned his head.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMondo opened it and stepped inside. He held a tablet in one hand.
"Mr. Weiss is here. He wants to speak with you." Calen's steps were sharp as he entered the living room. He didn't bother sitting, he'd been waiting in another area outside, finally, they allowed him to cin. His eyes immediately locked on Liam.
"Where is she?" he demanded. "This place is impossible to find. Why are you hiding her here, of all places?" There was anger in his voice, but underneath it was something else-panic. Fear.
Who would have thought Liam would fly Izzy out of San Francisco and bring her all the way to New York, barely hours after the accident? It had taken Calen days to trace her actual location. Days of blocked access, closed doors, and silence.
Liam didn't flinch. He stood near the fireplace, unmoving.
Calen stepped forward. "It tookdays to get here. You had no right to take her." Liam didn't look fazed. "Mr. Weiss," he said calmly, "may I know why you're here instead of busying yourself with your upcoming wedding?" Calen's expression cracked.
He stared at him. "What wedding?" His voice dropped. "She's on her deathbed!" Calen added. "I wouldn't- "Surely, your wedding has nothing to do with my Izzy, right?" Liam smiled. Calen frowned. He didn't miss the way he said 'my Izzy 1/3 202 Calen took a deep breath. "I am not going to argue with you. I did not chere to explain this- "Then leave... you are not a doctor. Izzy will do fine without you." "You-"Calen glared at Liam's back. He was standing near the fireplace, looking at the view outside of this cabin, Calen looked around, taking in the cabin for the first time.
It was smaller than he expected. A single-floor bungalow with aged wooden beams, wide windows, and a stone fireplace. The floor creaked under his shoes. There was no luxury in sight. No guards at the door. No medical equipment. Just a leather couch, a coat rack, and a small kitchen tucked into the corner. It looked more like a weekend retreat than a place to hide someone in critical condition. He frowned.
There was no sign of someone else in this room.
The hallway on the right led to two closed doors. One looked like a guest room, judging from the folded sheets on the bench outside it. The other was shut completely. But even if she were in one of them, there were no signs-no nurses, no machines, no sound.
Calen stepped further into the space, scanning the floor plan. Then he paused.
The rug in the center of the room was off-too thick for the rest of the space, and slightly misaligned. He looked closer. Near the corner, the floor panel beneath it had a faint cut, almost like it had been outlined.
He turned back to Liam. "You're keeping her underground." Liam didn't answer.
Calen looked again. The rest of the cabin was quiet, almost too quiet. No signs of life above ground, but something told him the quiet was intentional. There had to be an access point. Maybe under the rug. Maybe behind the fireplace. Maybe in one of the side rooms.

Liam finally turned his head slightly. D Calen stared at him. "You're "I'm keeping her alive," fully looking at him. "I built this years ago. It wasn't meant for her. But it works." keeping her away from everyone." dam said.
"Keeping her alive?" Liam didn't move. "Isn't it obvious?" he said. "She's in danger." "In danger from what? It was an accident!" Calen snapped. "Besides... you have no right to hide her here." "This was the only place that could help her," Liam replied. "I have a team of doctors. They're trusted. They're equipped. They'll make sure she wakes up." "That wasn't your call to make." "Then whose call was it?" Calen stepped forward. "Her aunt. Her cousin. Her family." Liam scoffed. "You mean the scousin who stabbed your mother? You want Monica making decisions for Izzy?" Calen didn't answer.

"You're lucky your mother lived," Liam added. "But what happens if Monica gets close to Izzy again? What if she En decides to finish what she started?" Calen clenched his fists.
Liam took a step forward. "You think you're protecting her, but you're not. You don't know how. It's no wonder she left you. You're stupid." Calen's jaw tightened. "Then letsee her." "Why the hell would I do something so stupid?" Liam responded, a smirk apparent on his face.
"Liam, I am not kidding. I need-"
"Mr. Weiss, may I know what your relationship is with my Izzy?" Liam asked, smiling. "May I know if you are someone important? Perhaps... a close relative? Someone that has the right to see her in her most vulnerable state?" "I" Calen couldn't answer that.
"Well... we all know what you are, right?" Liam said. "Please stop wasting my time. I am- "You have no right to keep her in this place."
"In fact... I do," Liam smiled as he looked over his shoulder. Then he turned back, closing the gap between them until they were face to face.
e! Now, he was standing directly in front of Calen. "After all... I'am her husband." Check out new : The Rogue King's Surrogate mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliI0fiflO&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
