Chapter 146
Chapter 146
About twenty minutes later, the car pulled up to the Rosewood residence. Through the window, Elysia
immediately saw Bella pruning branches in the garden, appearing quite content after her being away for a few
days.
As the car stopped, Elysia opened the door and stepped out. Just as her feet touched the ground, Mary rushed
toward her, her face lighting up with joy. “Elysia, you're back,” she exclaimed.
Elysia nodded but didn’t say anything. Instead, her eyes were focused on Bella, filled with scrutiny and curiosity.
She knew it wouldn't be long before the truth would cout.
Bella must have sensed Elysia’s gaze, as she looked up, their eyes locked. Bella's expression changed instantly;
gripping the scissors tightly, she abruptly snipped off a branch. ‘How could she return so soon?’
Elysia noted the shadow of sadness in Bella's eyes, a faint smirk appeared on her lips as she turned to head
inside the house.
Mary quickly grabbed Elysia’s suitcase and followed her inside, wondering why Bella was treating Elysia so
unkindly, especially given Elysia’s lovely nature.
It was clear that Bella had changed during Elysia’s absence; her spirits had noticeably brightened. Mary sighed
as she recalled how Bella had previously acted towards Elysia.
Elysia had a tough life; she grew up away from her parents, finally reunited with them, only to be met with her
mom's disfavor. Unfortunately, as just a maid, Mary felt helpless to support Elysia in this situation.
Once they reached the second floor, Elysia opened her bedroom door and smiled at the refreshed decor. It
looked much nicer now. Stepping inside, Mary set down the luggage before leaving respectfully.
Elysia looked closely at her room’s arrangement and, at that moment, her phone rang. She pulled it out and
answered.
“Elysia, are you happy with the renovations?” Caius’s voice cthrough, full of eager flattery.

“Yes,” she replied simply.
Caius chuckled on the other end. “As long as you're happy.”
After ending the call, Elysia walked to the living room, settled onto the sofa, and crossed her legs in a relaxed
manner, even though her heart was anything but calm.
She waited for Bella to arrive, but after a long twith no sign of her, Elysia figured that Bella was deliberately
avoiding her. Deciding to address the issue, she stood up and walked outside.
Bella was not in the garden. Looking over, she spotted Bella sitting in a chair, enjoying a cup of coffee.
Elysia approached her, and upon seeing her, Bella's expression soured. “What are you doing here?” she asked,
irritation evident in her voice.
“Mom, even if you don’t want to see me, | really want to see you,” Elysia replied, sitting down.
Resting her hand on the table, she locked eyes with Bella and teased, “It’s only been a few days, yet you grew
gray hairs?” Panicking a bit, Bella immediately placed her hands on her hair. “Where?”
A faint smile appeared on Elysia’s lips; every woman wants to look her best. For someone like Bella, who was
getting older, taking care of herself was essential. Any hint of aging, especially gray hairs, would be unwelcome.

“Don’t worry, letcheck, Elysia said, standing up and moving behind Bella, pretending to search through her
hair.
“Did you find it?” Bella asked, a hint of urgency in her tone.
Elysia smirked slightly, grabbed a few strands of Bella's hair, and with a quick pull, yanked them out. Bella felt a
delicate sting on her scalp, covered her head instinctively, and demanded, “Show me”

Bella's expression darkened instantly; it was painfully clear that her dislike for Elysia was not without its reasons-
Elysia was certainly not being friendly.
Holding the hair firmly in her hand, Elysia offered a charming smile. “I'm truly sorry; I'll take my leave now? With
that, she walked away.
Once she reached a corner where no one was around, Elysia discreetly tucked the hair into a clear bag, labeled
it, and placed it in her pocket.
Now, only Scott's hair was left to collect. She proceeded to the study and knocked softly on the door. Inside,
Scott's authoritative voice boomed. “Cin.”
Elysia entered to find Scott pinching the bridge of his nose, looking troubled. His expression changed upon
noticing her, and he said wearily, “You're back?”
“Yes, Dad. What seems to be the matter?” Elysia stepped closer and gently massaged his temples.
Scott was surprised by this new closeness but didn’t give it much thought; he had too many worries on his mind.
He sighed heavily. “It’s just work.”
Elysia replied with comforting words, “Please don’t stress too much. Take care of your health.”
As she spoke, her hand slowly moved to his head, applying gentle pressure. Scott visibly relaxed and said
contentedly, “You really know how to take care of me.”
Elysia stayed silent as she skillfully plucked two strands of his hair without him noticing. Pulling her hand back,

Scott waved his hand dismissively. “Close the door.”
“Of course.” Elysia exited, shutting the door quietly.
Once back in her room, she stared at the three clear bags, then took a few strands of her own hair and placed
them in another bag.
Afterward, she gathered all the bags into her backpack and, leaving the villa, hailed a taxi to the paternity
testing center. She could hardly wait; she yearned for quick answers.
When she arrived at the center, Elysia handed over the bags containing the hair. “When can | expect the
results?” she asked eagerly.
“Typically, results take five to seven days. However, if it's urgent, we can speed it up; you'd get results in about
six hours,” the nurse replied.
“Okay, I'll go with the expedited service,” she said.
