Chapter 1714

might as well spoil you a little!"

Sophie gazed at Colby for a moment. That strange feeling bubbled up inside her again, and before she realized

it, her hand had reached out and rested on Colby's. With her hand already there, Sophie shrugged it off and said,

"Well, since I've got nothing else on today, In the amusement park, plenty of folks couldn't help but glance at

Sophie and Colby. They were both so stunning that they drew attention wherever they went. Evening had rolled

in, and the two had been having a blast since four in the afternoon, enjoying a solid four hours of fun.

By eight, the amusement park lights began to dim. After hopping off the last roller coaster, Sophie felt a bit

woozy and plopped down on a nearby bench. The park was still aglow, casting a dreamy, fairy-tale vibe across

the place.

Colby had ducked out to take a call, leaving Sophie alone as everyone else made their way toward the exit. She

sat by the carousel, watching as the park's lights slowly faded out. Gordon was still a no-show.

A hint of sadness crept onto her face. Even though hanging out with Colby had been a blast, she couldn't shake

off the sting of her brother bailing on her. As the night grew quieter, the sadness settled in.

The fireworks had slipped by unnoticed, and she'd only managed to explore half the attractions. The night air

was getting chilly. Finally, even the carousel's lights went out, leaving the park eerily quiet and almost deserted.

Sophie stood up from the bench, lowered her head, and started to head out. But then, the carousel's lights

flickered back on. Sophie looked up, surprised. The lights that had dimmed were now lighting up the path ahead.

"Colby, is that you?" Sophie asked hesitantly, taking a couple of steps forward. A familiar figure stood not far off,

the soft glow casting a long shadow behind him.

Gordon stood there in his white shirt, sleeves casually rolled up, holding an adorable pink balloon. "Got a bit

sidetracked at work. Is my little princess upset?" Gordon's voice was as gentle as ever.

Sophie's nose tingled, and she dashed over to Gordon, throwing herself into his arms, crying like a child. "A bit?

It's been four hours!"

"Don't cry," Gordon said, his face showing a rare flicker of panic at seeing her tears. "But I'm here now, aren't I?"

"What's the point now? It's dark!" Sophie's tears fell like pearls down her cheeks, Gordon gently wiped them

away, saying, "As long as my little princess wishes, even if it's dark can make it lively again."

QUMS

He bent down, carefully wiping her tears, his voice filled with undeniable affection. "Didn't you say you really

wanted to ride the Ferris wheel?"

Sophie sniffled and nodded eagerly

"It was my fault earlier," Gordon said, reaching out like a true gentleman. "After the park closes... letbe the

one to stay with you, okay?"
