Chapter 17 A GOf Cat And Mouse
Amanda was out shopping with her friend, Daniela Mason, in high spirits after having successfully dealt with
the Harper family.
She watched on with a smile as Daniela excitedly tried on a necklace, casually twirling the shiny black card in
her fingers.
This was the card Elliot had given her, and it had no spending limit. The sky was the limit-literally.
Amanda had learned from Elliot's maid that Elliot had never gifted Corynn anything; everything Corynn had done
previously had been of her own volition.
Initially, Amanda was under the impression that Elliot didn’t give a damn about Corynn-that Corynn was just a
passing whimsy to him. So, she had never considered Corynn a real threat.
But now, things were different.
She had been wrong about Corynn; that woman was her biggest threat.
Tapping her perfectly manicured fingers on the acrylic display case, she glanced at the watch on her wrist, which
was worth millions. A smile crept on her face.
It was time.
After parking her car outside the mall, Corynn double checked the address Amanda had sent and then entered

the other mall entrance.
But by the tshe arrived, Amanda was gone.
She asked the nearest store clerk about Amanda, only to learn that the latter had left just a minute before.
Corynn'’s grip tightened around her phone.
She should've seen this coming; Amanda would never miss an opportunity to make her suffer.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message from Amanda, who had just sent her a new location.
Corynn looked up at the building's multiple levels. This was one of the largest shopping malls in the city.
If Amanda wanted to play cat and mouse, it would take Corynn all day to find her.
With a sigh, Corynn turned to leave.
She now fully understood what it felt like to be at someone else’s mercy, to have all her skills and talents
rendered useless.

Chapter 17 A GOf Cat And Mouse
Just as she was about to exit the mall, her phone rang.
She smirked upon glancing at the caller ID.
Amanda’s sharp voice sounded in Corynn’s ear the moment the call connected. “Corynn, who the fuck said you
could leave?”
Corynn replied nonchalantly, “Amanda, if you like playing games, find someone else to play with you. | don’t
have tfor this.”
A cold laugh cfrom the other end of the line. “Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Are you seriously just
going to let your family business suffer?”
Corynn laughed, too. “Oh, Amanda, | know you won't let my family off the hook so easily.”
Amanda sneered. “I'm in the coffee shop on the third floor.”
The next second, Corynn was met with the angry dial tone. Amanda had hung up on her abruptly.

Corynn wasn’t worried that Amanda would leave her in the lurch again, but she was also keenly aware that
Amanda wasn’t done making things difficult for her.
At the coffee shop, she told a waiter that she was looking for a Ms. Willis, who then led her to a private room.
Amanda sat at the head of the table, with two other women flanking her on either side. The scene resembled
a courtroom tribunal, and Corynn was the one on trial.
Corynn placed her bag down, pulled out a chair, and sat across from them. She didn’t beat around the bush.
“I chere for one simple reason, which I'm sure you're already aware, Miss Willis.”
Irritated, Daniela snapped, “What kind of attitude is that?! Show srespect when speaking to Amanda!”
Corynn’s gaze flitted over to her briefly, but ultimately, she ignored her as though she were nothing more than
a pesky fly. Fixing her eyes on Amanda, she continued, “I made myself clear the last twe met. Do | need to
repeat myself?”
With a sneer, Amanda took out a check for five million and slid it across the table.
“Take the money and leave the country. I'll let your family go once you're gone.”
Corynn couldn’t help but burst into giggles, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms, shaking from the
sheer laughter.
“Miss Willis, | have that much money and more. Besides, my his here, so I'm not leaving. If you really
want to make sure Elliot will never seeagain, it’s simple-you and Elliot should leave the country together!”
