Statement

Corynn’s phone was soon inundated with calls from urgent employees and business partners alike.
She did her best to reassure them and notified the PR department to release an official statement.
The announcement instantly topped the trending list. Unfortunately, all the comments under the post were still
attacking the Harper Group. Their greatest piece of arsenal was the image of the woman's disfigured face, and
they didn’t hold back from sharing it online as much as they could.
When Corynn finally regained her full composure, she turned off her phone.
In truth, she had anticipated Amanda’s move, and had prepared a countermeasure beforehand.
Amanda thought she had the upper hand because she had ambushed Harper Group's product launch.
Unbeknownst to her, Corynn could easily use the situation to promote the company’s new products.
All she needed to do now was to wait.
She had to give the Inteenough tto discuss the matter and go against her company.
Corynn returned home.

Erick greeted her at the door. He knew she had been at the launch event.
It was an utter fiasco, and he and Shirley had been worried sick. More than anything, they feared that someone
might actually hurt Corynn in the middle of all the chaos.
“Are you all right, dear?” he asked worriedly.
Corynn nodded her head. “I'm fine, Dad. Nothing happened. | left the venue early.”
She had also made sure that her team left before she did, so the main focus of the debacle were the so-called
victims that had suddenly appeared at the event.
Corynn glanced at the television, where a live coverage of the event was being broadcasted.
“Those bastards are doing this on purpose!” Erick huffed. “It’s slander!”
The Harper Group had been in the industry for over thirty years without ever encountering any product issues.
Each product was tested by the employees themselves before being sent out into the market. So why the
sudden complaints? More importantly, the defect should have affected a whole batch of products, yet none of
the employees who used the products had reported such defect.
“I know, Dad,” Corynn murmured, patting her father’s shoulder in a gesture of comfort. Her expression hardened
as she watched the “victims” smear the nof the business her father had worked so hard to build.

“They're framing us! They probably used stoxic substance to ruin their own faces!” Erick continued to fume,
his hand trembling around his cup of coffee.
Corynn didn’t think she had seen him this angry before.
“Calm down, Dad,” she sighed. “Con, we can’t have your blood pressure shooting up. Especially not over
false accusations.”
“Your father has always been like that, I'm afraid,” Shirley said as she descended the stairs. She was dressed to
go out. “Always so loud and short-tempered. You'd think he'd learn a thing or two over the years, but he never
changes!”
“Are you going somewhere, Mom?” Corynn asked lightly.
“She was worried about you,” Erick interjected in that sirritated tone. “We couldn't reach you by phone, so
she insisted on going out to find you. It's a good thing you cback before she left.”
Corynn checked her phone. Sure enough, she had a number of missed calls from her parents.
At the time, she had been on a call with two department heads, making arrangements for the company’s next
course of action.
“Everything is going to be okay,” she reassured her parents. “I can handle this just fine.”
The couple shared a look. After that last crisis they had had to face, they knew well enough to have faith in their
daughter's abilities.

Corynn ignored the chaos online and spent the next three days relaxing at home. In that time, the controversy
remained on the top trending topics, along with new and budding rumors that the Harper Group's products
contained multiple illegal substances that caused skin damage.
As a result, several malls and boutiques that had existing contracts with the company moved to cancel their
partnerships.
Corynn stroked her chin as she read through the date. The timing was just right.
She reached for her phone and made a call. It was tfor the operations manager to release another
statement.
This one included an inspection report issued by a third-party institution, and it provided a detailed list of
ingredients for the product released by the Harper Group.
It also addressed the alleged victims, offering to compensate them for the damages and cover all the medical
expenses they needed. The caveat was that they needed to undergo another examination of said damages,
which would be conducted by trustworthy health professionals.
Corynn also released a warning that the Harper Group was looking to sue all the netizens and trolls who had
spread misinformation once the matter was resolved.
Given the spotlight that the company was currently in, this new statement immediately caught public attention.
“Did she really think something like this would solve everything?” Amanda scoffed and tossed her phone aside.
She had waited for this moment for so long. She was eager to see what Corynn would do next.
