Chapter 53 He's Like That With Everyone
“Elliot, how dare you?!” Jeremy reprimanded, his voice growing increasingly loud.
Before Elliot could respond, he pointed a finger at Elliot and continued, “Because of your groundless accusations,
she’s crying her eyes out alone in her room. What on earth were you thinking?”
Turning a deaf ear to Jeremy's scolding, Elliot simply said, “If there's nothing else, I'm leaving.”
He turned and walked away without waiting for a response.
His blatant disrespect only added fuel to the fire, causing Jeremy's anger to boil over. He roared, “Elliot, do you
even care about my daughter?!”
Elliot didn’t even look back, striding out of Willis Mansion as though nothing had happened.
Seeing no reason to stay, Jason also took his leave.
Jeremy clutched his heaving chest, seething with rage as he watched the two men walk out the door.
This bastard didn’t give a damn about his daughter at all!

After taking a few deep breaths to calm his boiling anger, Jeremy went upstairs and knocked on Amanda’s door
gently.
Amanda, who was crying in bed, buried her head under the covers when she heard the knock. “Leavealone!”
she yelled, her voice muffled.
“Amanda, it's Dad. Please open the door. | need to talk to you, okay?” Jeremy coaxed her patiently.
Amanda begrudgingly climbed out of bed and opened the door, looking up woefully at her father like an injured
child.
“Do you still want to marry Elliot?” Jeremy asked gently.
Amanda nodded without hesitation.
“But you saw what Elliot did tonight. He doesn’t care about you at all. How can | rest easy, letting you marry a
guy like him?” Jeremy asked in a strained tone, his heart aching.
Amanda was his only child, born to his late wife. He couldn't bear the thought of handing her over to a unfeeling
bastard like Elliot.
“Dad, Elliot's like that with everyone. Don’t worry about it. Besides, didn’t we already agree with Owen that |
would marry Elliot on my birthday?” Amanda tried to reassure him.
Jeremy still hesitated. After all, Elliot's attitude just now was eye-opening to just how cold he really was.

“Dad, maybe Elliot will warm up toonce we're married. And in our circle, who doesn’t have a past? Besides,
our union with the Andrews family will only make us stronger,” Amanda reassured her father.
Jeremy sighed, stroking Amanda’s head dotingly. “I just worry about you.”
Amanda’s obsession with Elliot wasn’t anything new, but he still feared for her happiness.
It seemed that he had to take matters into his own hands now. He couldn't let Corynn live any longer, or else
Elliot would never be able to marry Amanda and settle down.
“Was it you who ordered the attack on that woman?” Jeremy suddenly asked.
Amanda clung to his arm, pouting like a spoiled child. “Of course not! | would never do such a thing.”

Jeremy patted her shoulder. “Good, good. You'd better not get involved in such things, understand?”
He didn’t want his daughter tainted by the dark side of humanity; he preferred to handle those matters
himself.
Amanda nodded dutifully.
“But don’t worry, my dear. | won't let anyone mistreat my precious daughter!” Jeremy vowed.
“And | won't let anyone mistreat me!” Amanda echoed, releasing his arm. She walked over to her floor-to- ceiling
window and looked out.
Jason's car had just pulled out of the driveway.
“Dad, | really envy that woman. She has both Elliot's love and Jason's, too. Even though she’s not as good as me,
she has such good luck,” Amanda murmured discontentedly.
Jeremy walked over, hugging her close.
“You're my one and only daughter. I'll give you whatever you want-even the sun, moon, and stars are all yours,”
he said dotingly.
Amanda responded softly, a satisfied smile playing at her lips.
