Chapter 188

After a while, Harvey's panting slowly subsided. The tension in the car was

palpable. Eloise found herself leaning on his shoulder, with a tear in the corner of her eye. Even though he hadn't

done anything overtly wrong, this situation was just not cool!

So, awkward as hell, she asked, "Harvey, can you let go of me?"

Harvey's slender fingers gently stroked her long hair, finally resting on her

shoulder. There was something sort of tender about it.

Eloise didn't move, fearing that any movement would just crank up the embarrassment level.

Once Harvey calmed down, he turned to try and kiss her. Eloise dodged, "I want to get out of the car!"

Harvey softly brushed back her long hair, studying her face, and his mood seemed to lighten a little. "You've got

a smudge on your dress. Letclean it up."

Eloise wanted to say she could do it herself, but she gave in after a glance. Harvey cleaned it up for her. Then he

whispered, "Eloise, can't we go back to the way we were?"

Eloise slid over to the passenger seat, her face expressionless as if his earlier affection was a one-man show. She

stared out front, her voice cold. "Three's a crowd, Harvey."

He whispered back, "I don't love her."

Eloise let out a bitter laugh. She slowly said, "Harvey, as long as the Horigan family and the Lynch family are

connected, you and Joan can't cut ties! Can you really let go of her divorce case?"

Harvey didn't answer.

Eloise found it all rather pointless, and she calmly said, "I want to get out of the car."

This time, Harvey didn't stop her, and opened the car door for her. Fresh air rushed in, causing a pang in his

lungs. Eloise walked away without looking back.

Back in her apartment, Milo wagged his tail, in greeting her. Eloise fed him dog food. "Take your time."

She went to take a shower. She tossed the dress with Harvey's scent, straight into the trash. After her shower,

Eloise sat in her apartment for a long time, not realizing it was already past ten at night. The TV was still on, and

Milo was gnawing on a bone.

Eloise made a phone call. "Mr. Parker, | need to see you!"

The Horigan family.

Parker received the call, a satisfied smile on his face. Seemed like the girl finally caround!

Pauline's eyes were filled with tears. She held her husband's hand. "You must do well tomorrow and try to win

sfavor for Harvey. If it doesn't work, bring Orlena along. Eloise seems to really like Orlena; she's always

especially fond of her!"

Parker's daughter Orlena was a year older than Eloise.

Parker was hopeful, thinking Eloise was ready to accept their billion-dollar fortune, but he was met with rejection.

He politely saw the young lady out.

Once she was out of sight, his face turned gloomy. "Get Harvey here!"

His secretary immediately went to do it, and in less than half an hour, Harvey was there.

At Horigan Inc. in the CEO's office, the sound of shattering objects broke the silence, along with Parker's furious

roar, "I told you to win her over, not to go after the Bowen family! | have sties with Dominique, but you

nearly ruined his company chasing after a girlfriend. Who taught you this?"

Harvey stood amidst the debris. Blood was trickling down his forehead again. He wiped it off lightly, speaking

slowly, "Dad, isn't this what you taught me?"

Parker was left speechless in anger. When did he teach him this? He taught that a man should pursue, but also

respect the dignity of others, right? After their last conversation, he thought Harvey would act more normal, but

he seemed to have gotten worse!

He cursed a few more times.

Harvey suddenly asked, "Has Eloise contacted you?"

Parker grunted in response. Harvey said nonchalantly, "You don't need to worry about our business. I'll handle it."

Parker glared at him. "Handle? How are you going to handle it? Harvey, I'm telling you, you need to rein in your

rough tactics. Don't scare the girl away. When Eloise cover, | could tell she'd been crying."

As a father and son, who wouldn't want their son to have a good life? Parker

patted his shoulder. "You need to be patient!"

Harvey nodded politely, then turned and left.

In the evening, Harvey drove to Eloise's apartment. He rang the doorbell.

Eloise saw him through the peephole and didn't want to open the door. Harvey's voice was icy. "I have a

document here that you might want to see. If you don't open the door, | promise it's going to be public

knowledge."

Eloise opened the door. The door opened, and their eyes met, but neither of them spoke.

Harvey's gaze was intense. His voice was even gentle. "You went to see my dad? To get rid offor Landon?"

That familiar feeling of helplessness hit Eloise. She was really tired. Almost begging, she said to him, "There's

nothing between Landon and me! Harvey, can't | have a normal social life and have normal friends?"

"| get jealous!" Harvey stood at the door, his voice soft. "Of course, | know nothing could happen between you

and him because you're still thinking about me. But Eloise, every t| see him take you home, helping you into

the car, it bothers me!"

He handed her the document. "Take a look at this. | think you'll know how to choose!"

Eloise knew he was capable of anything now, so she quickly opened it. Just a glance turned her face pale. It was

filled with evidence of Dominique's misconduct. Just one of these leaked out could ruin Dominique's career as a

top- notch lawyer, and his reputation would be in the gutter.

Eloise's fingers curled up tightly. She looked up abruptly. "Harvey! Have you lost your mind?"

Harvey gently touched her cold face, giving a faint smile. "I know you respect Dominique and like Blake a lot. You

wouldn't want them to suffer, right?"

Eloise stood there, silently staring at the document. Tears began to fall. She felt like she was slowly losing

something, like freedom!

Her tears blurred the words. When she could no longer see clearly, she looked up at him and managed a weak

smile. "Harvey, you've won! | promise you now, | won't see Landon, won't contact Landon. Are you satisfied now?

If so, you can leave now!"

She didn't want to see him! She didn't want to see him at all.

Harvey made no response, so she spoke again, "Mr. Horigan, you can rest easy now. | won't meet anyone you

don't approve of. Any interaction | have with anyone will need your permission first. Are you satisfied with that?"
