Chapter 108

-Ava’s POV-

“Are you sure this is a good ide

You haven't fully healed,” | asked, but despite my concern, | went ahead and focused the binoculars on ‘our

target’ as Isabella had called him.

“Don’t be a buzzkill,” she replied, brushingoff as always. “You said you wanted to take your mind off

Grayson, and | need to channel my anger somewhere. So, no, this isn't a good idea-but we're doing it anyway.

Eliza is our friend. When our friends get dumped, we find the guy responsible, and we beat him up. That's how

it’s always worked.”

“This is a bad idea,” my wolf grumbled in the back of my mind, her voice carrying a weight of disapproval. |

giggled despite myself because her voice since | had been hearing it, always felt like a tickle brushing against

my skull, strange and yet comforting.

“What the hell is so funny?” Isabella snapped at me, glaring. At the stime, | felt my wolf roll her eyes-if that

was even possible.

“Nothing,” | replied, shaking my head and stifling another laugh.

The bond with my wolf still felt surreal. She was like an older sister who frowned on all my bad decisions, yet |

couldn't imagine being without her now that she was here. It was exhilarating and weird at the stime,

having her here now when she'd been silent for so long. | wanted to tell my parents that my wolf had finally

revealed herself to me-how she’d always been there, waiting until | found myself enough to bring her-but with

everything else going on, with Grayson’s attitude being the cherry on top of the chaos, | decided against it.

So here | was, stalking Eliza's ex to distract myself, at least until | had to get back to work and deal with Crystal

in the next few days.

“He's about to leave,” Isabella said.

“I can see that, I'm holding binoculars,” | replied dryly.

“Why did you even bring those? Don’t you have a wolf now? You've got heightened senses, which means...” She

snatched the binoculars out of my hands. “You don’t need to be goggle girl. Just focus on what you want to see,

and you will-no matter how far away it is.”

| glared at her but sighed, turning my head and doing exactly what she said. My vision zoomed in like | had an

invisible lens, and | gasped in surprise.

Isabella laughed.

think my wolf likes you or your antics very much,” | muttered.

She grabbed my hand, tuggingforward as we began tailing Jeremy. According to Isabella, the plan was

My wolf growled softly in the back of my mind, and uncase settled deep in my chest. Something was wrong. |

turned to Isabella, holding a finger to my lips to silence her just as Jeremy's voice rang out, shaky and uncertain.

“Are you here?”

My breath caught as a large man stepped out from the shadows. He was tall and imposing, wearing a black suit

that looked out of place in a grimy alley. | shoved Isabella into the corner, and we both peered out to watch

without being seen.

The man’s voice was calm, cold, and terrifying. “I paid you a lot of money to getinformation, and what do |

hear? That you ended things with the source of that information?”

Jeremy's voice wavered. “I-I tried to make things work with her, but she’s too much. | couldn't keep pretending.”

The man moved with shocking speed, grabbing Jeremy by the collar and lifting him off the ground effortlessly. |

“You will call her,” the man ordered. “Get back together, and you will keep pulling information from her until | say

otherwise. Do you have any idea how many people want Grayson Blackwood dead? And what they would do to

people that stand in their way?”

My heart slammed in my chest. What?

The man continued, his tone unrelenting. “Your girlfriend handles all his affairs. You will call her the moment you

leave this alley. Make amends, gain her trust, and pull every scrap of information you can about him. Do | make

myself clear?”

Jeremy nodded frantically, his head bobbing up and down like a puppet on strings. The man tossed him aside

with ease, and Jeremy crashed into a garbage can with a groan. The man stepped closer, his voice an icy threat.

“You have until tomorrow to getsomething new-and it had better be useful.”

With that, the man disappeared into the shadows, leaving Jeremy shaking and pale.

This time, | didn’t let Isabella stop me. | stepped forward, my voice cold and deadly.

“You know,” | began, “when my friend suggested we beat you up. | said no. Because | know better than anyone

that sometimes relationships just don’t work out.”

Jeremy's head snapped up, his face draining of all color as recognition dawned.

“It's good you know who | am,” | continued, stepping closer. My claws extended, and his eyes widened in terror.

“So you'd better start talking. Why are you using my friend to get to my husband? And it had better be a damn

good reason.”

| leaned in closer, letting him see my darkening eyes as my voice dropped, “Because if it's not, | promise you-

you won't be

walking out of this alley at all.”
