Chapter 114

-Grayson'’s POV-

| seriously do not know what your problem is, you royal asshole-

| ground my teeth in irritation, cutting Isabella off. “I am not in the mood for this today.”

With that, | ended the call, ondering why | had even bothered to answer it in the first place. After | made the

decision to let Ava

go, Elaine had just shaken her head, staring atlike she could finally see the monster that everyone else had

knownto be. | would admit, her look-those eyes full of judgment had hurt more than | wanted to admit. But

as usual, | numbed it down, shut it out, and by the t| returned to my study, | was already too exhausted to

feel anything. The glasses sat abandoned on the desk with Liam gone, and | just sank into the chair, not even

knowing what to do next. So, | sat there. Staring.

How long, | didn’t know, but eventually, the ringing of my phone sliced through the suffocating silence. Isabella's

voice cthrough before | could even answer it, and | regretted giving her my number at that moment. The

regret grew even stronger as the phone rang incessantly.

| finally picked up, my frustration and anger rolling offin waves. “What is it that you want?”

She matched my tone, sharp and full of frustration. “Don’t yell at me, Grayson. | don’t know what the hell you've

done again or why I'm even bothering to tell you this, but you should know that Ava just left... with a man. | don’t

know where they are going.”

The growl that leftfelt deep and primal, and my body tensed as if | were ready to spring into action. But |

snapped, “Why didn’t you try to stop her? Isn't she your best friend?”

“I did try to stop her,” she spat, her voice full of anger. “But she practically shovedoff and left. This is your

fault, yet again. So, | suggest you get off your high horse and use your resources to find her before she does

something you both will regret. Because right now, she’s drunk off her mind.”

Her words hitlike a punch to the gut, and for a moment, | felt completely unmoored. My entire body was

already pushingout of my seat, ready to find her, but | forced myself to remain still. My voice cout cold,

detached. “Ava is a grown woman. She can face the consequences of her actions.”

“You have got to be kidding me,” was the last thing | heard before | hung up, my anger flaring.

My wolf growled inside me, frustration building to a boiling point. And for the first tin what felt like forever, |

snapped back at him. “Shut the hell up. Enough about her!”

| heard him emit a mellow groan, almost like he was backing off but I could feel his displeasure, his frustration

rolling through me. | exhaled a sigh, seconds later muttering another curse under my breath. | grabbed my

jacket and keys, heading out of the study without another word.

“I didn’t mean to yell at you,” | muttered under my breath. But all | could hear was silence-the kind that told me

was there but was pissed off. Well, if that was what he wanted then he could join the damn list.

| dialed Isabella’s number again, but this time, she ended the call before | could even get a word in. My jaw

clenched, and | tried again, then a third, fourth, and fifth time, only to have her continue to ignore my calls. | let

out a frustrated breath, swallowing my pride. There was only one other person who could helpnow.

| dialed Rickon. He picked up on the first ring.

| knew you'd give in eventually,” he said with a smirk in his voice, “stop pretending like you don’t miss me.”

I ground my teeth. | would never get used to Rickon’s antics, but | ignored his comment, trying to keep my focus.

“Do you know where Isabella is? The exact bar she’s at?”

Rickon’s voice becmore serious, but there was still a hint of playfulness. “I don’t know about you, but | know

a thing or two about boundaries and personal space. | don’t track people all the time.”

“Rickon,” | warned, my voice sharp. He sighed loudly.

“Fine. I'll get her location from the guys | have tailing her, and | send it to you.”

“Right now,” | demanded.

“Of course, your highness, “e snarked before hanging up..

| let out a deep breath, my temper still simmering, but there was nothing to be done about it now. Rickon always

pushed my buttons, but | needed him. Seconds later, the screen of my phone lit up with a message. | read it

quickly, eyes scanning the location.

I didn’t hesitate. | slammed my foot on the accelerator, pushing the car faster as | made my way through the

streets. My mind raced as | tried to think things through. She could have already left the area, but if she was still

around there, | could track her scent. | had to get there in time, had to make sure she was safe, and, more

importantly, | needed to fix this.

The thought of losing Ava, of everything | had just destroyed in one night... it burned through me. A pit formed in

my stomach, gnawing at me, relentless. | wasn’t thinking clearly, but there was no room for hesitation. Not now.

The road blurred beforeas | pushed the car harder, the engine growling under the strain. My hands gripped

the wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white. Each streetlight flashed by like a streak of fire, the world outside

spinning faster than my mind could process. Isabella's words echoed in my head-Ava had left. With a man. Drunk

off her mind.

cursed under my breath. The panic clawed at my chest, but | forced myself to focus. | had no idea where she was

going who she was with, or how much damage had already been done. All that mattered now was finding her.

The final street loomed ahead, the one leading to the bar. | knew | was close. Closer than | wanted to be.

But then, just as the bar cinto view, a familiar scent hitAva’s scent. It was sharp, overpowering, like a

siren’s call. My foot slammed on the brakes, the car screeching to a halt as | jerked open the door.

| moved fast, instinct drivingforward. Her scent was stronger now, guiding me, pullingtoward her. |

turned a corner and then froze.

There she was, standing just ahead, but it wasn’t just her | saw. My eyes scanned the scene, freezing on the man

lying on the ground before | even saw his face. Blood pooled beneath him, dark and wet against the pavement.

Ava was trembling. Her hair was disheveled, her face pale, streaked with tears. Her hands were trembling as she

wiped at her eyes, trying to hold herself together.

Then, like she sensed my presence, her head snapped to the side. Our eyes locked, and in that instant,

everything insidetwisted.

“I didn’t... he tried to...” Her voice cracked, and she took a shaky step back, her breath ragged. “I didn’t mean to

kill him.”
