Chapter 285 Run Away From Home
"Emily is not the kind of woman you think!" Daniel's emotions began to grow agitated. He shouted at Veda,
drawing the attention of everyone around them, and Veda was stunned.
"Veda, I'm sorry." Out of gentlemanly politeness, Daniel wanted to apologize, but definitely not for what he had
said.
In his heart, Emily was a particularly good woman, not like what Veda said at all, and certainly not like what
others thought.
"You don't need to apologize to me, Daniel. | just want you to know that I like you. I've liked you for so many
years. | have feelings for you. | thought you would have feelings fortoo, but | never expected to lose to
Emily." With that, Veda stood up to leave.
Daniel wanted to explain things to Veda, so he reached out to stop her, but Veda pushed him away, splashing a
cup of cold coffee on Daniel's face. When he looked up again, Veda's face was already covered with frost.
"Consider it a way forto vent my anger. I'm not someone who swallows my grievance. Daniel, | know what
you want to say. You seeas a sister, but | don't see you as a brother."
Then Veda left, leaving Daniel standing there alone.
He could occasionally hear the murmurs of the people around him, rising and falling, with varying volumes.
Just as Daniel was unsure whether to stay or leave, his phone rang again. It was a message from Emily. [Daniel,
I'm almost there. There was a bit of traffic earlier.] "Thank goodness for the traffic.’ Daniel couldn't help but think
to himself.
If Emily had run into Veda, who knew what would have happened.

Now, Daniel's mind was no longer concerned about what would happen to Veda. After all, the pampered
daughter of the Smith family had always been able to get anything she wanted. Whenever she was unhappy, she
would take it out on those around her.
So Daniel was only worried that Emily would be wronged, that she would be oppressed and humiliated by Veda
because of him.
On the other side, Veda cried non-stop on her way back.
She had been oppressed by Scarlett for so long, rejected by Daniel, and humiliated by her blind date. Veda's
heart was in turmoil, like a ball of yarn tangled by a cat, and the painful emotions in her heart could not be
suppressed.
As she approached the Smith Mansion, an old thought resurfaced in Veda's mind.
She wanted to hide, to escape from the Smith family.
The door creaked open, and Scarlett, who was reading a magazine in the living room, heard the noise. She
immediately smiled and called out in the direction of the door. "Is that you, Veda?"
Then cthe sound of changing shoes, putting things away, walking... until the sound got closer and closer,
and Scarlett's face instantly turned ugly. "Stop."
Veda ignored her and continued walking forward.
"| said stop!" Scarlett's angry roar echoed through the living room.
Veda could no longer bear it. She stopped, closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling, and tears unknowingly fell
again.
Scarlett cursed, "Veda, what are you thinking! | arranged a blind date for you with good intentions, and you go
out dressed like this to embarrass me! What are you trying to do! How much more do you want to embarrass
me!"
Seeing Veda wearing a wig and dressed in a Gothic style, with her eyes already smeared from crying and heavy
makeup, making her look like a defeated person, Scarlett couldn't understand and could only say harsh words to
Veda. "What's wrong with the blind date | introduced to you? His family may have less money than ours, but he's
from one of the top political families in Emerald City. Do you know how much money | spent and how many
connections | used to find such a respectable family for you!"
"Besides, the political career is stable. What are you dissatisfied with? It's your good fortune that he likes you. If
you don't strive for honor, fine, but you dress like this? My dignity... you've completely ruined it!"
But she didn't realize that the more she did this, the more it strengthened Veda's resolve.
After parting with Daniel, Emily also becpreoccupied.
On her way home, Emily kept thinking about what Daniel had said. "Emily, | think my liking you is my business.
You have the right to refuse, but not the right to interfere. | just want to be good to you. If my kindness causes
you trouble, you can tell me, but the fact is, | do everything with restraint."
"Actually, you don't feel pressured by my affection. Instead, it's others interfering with you and me, interfering
with my liking you. You listened to them and then felt the sway about me. I think that's unfair."
Originally, Emily had planned to meet Daniel today to clear things up.
But unexpectedly, it turned into a lesson from Daniel.
Emily increasingly felt that she might not be suited for talking about love, and that focusing on her career was
more suitable for her.

So, in the end, they didn't reach a conclusion. They just had a pot of coffee and then went their separate ways.
Daniel didn't mention anything about Veda, and Emily didn't know what Veda was facing at that moment.
It was only when she was almost hthat she received a call from Benjamin.
When she returned to the Smith Mansion, Michael had already cback from Smith Corporation.
Emily saw him sitting on the sofa, looking very upset.
Mason was pacing anxiously nearby, muttering complaints about Scarlett, while Scarlett initially stood in the
corner, listening intently. When she saw Emily return, she immediately perked up. "Dad, you can't always blame
me, can you! Doesn't Emily have any faults?"
Scarlett's words were quite surprising, and everyone looked up. She continued slowly, "Veda toldthat Emily,
as her sister-in-law, not only holds the title of Michael's wife but also flirts with other men outside, having an
unclear relationship with the man who likes her. What kind of behavior is that!"
"| didn't want to bring this up for the sake of the Smith family's dignity, but Emily, you should at least know some
boundaries! Now Veda has run away from home. What are we supposed to do! When will you let my Veda go!"
Scarlett put all the blon Emily. With her tearful and heart-wrenching performance, her emotions were
perfectly timed. Soon, Mason and Michael also looked at her. Their expressions weren't exactly malicious, but
they weren't kind either. Emily suddenly felt that the Smith family was still the sSmith family, still a pit of
suffering.
Maybe it had never changed from the beginning.
This was everything she had to face when she married into this wealthy family.
