Chapter 688
Chapter 688
Through that crack, the flames outside soared high into the night sky!
For Sherilyn, those flames were once the harbingers of her doom, yet now, she saw in them a glimmer of hope
for life!
"Jenna, Jenna..."
Tears streaming down her face, Sherilyn called out for her daughter.
Unloved by the world, living had been a constant struggle for her, but she couldn't die. Not yet. What would
becof Jenna if she were gone?
If she were to die, Jenna would endure the sbleak existence.
Jenna was still so young...
No, she couldn't let Jenna have the slife she had endured!
She had to survive. She must, for what right did she have as a mother to selfishly leave this world just because
she was tired?

"Jenna, Jenna..."
Repeating her daughter's nwas the only thing keeping her going.
With no strength left in her body, Sherilyn crawled on the ground, inching towards the crack, slowly raising her
hand in a futile attempt to pry it open. "Jenna, Jenna..."
With each utterance, another tear rolled down her cheek.
But it was no use.
Even if the iron door was frail, it wasn't something a woman could open by force.
"Sobbing..."
Sherilyn broke down, unsure of what to do next.
"Jenna, Jenna..."
She had tried her best, but it seemed like she was of no use at all.
Her delicate fingers scratched at the crack, nails splitting and blood seeping through the crevices...
And it didn't stop there. Soon, her fingertips and palms were cut, blood covering her hands, following the lines of
her skin... "Jenna, Jenna... Sobbing..."
When Edgar arrived, the fire department had already cordoned off the area, battling the blaze.
"You can't go in there!"
"Those rescued are over by the ambulances, shave already been taken to the hospital. You can check
there!"
Edgar rushed to inquire but didn't find Sherilyn's namong those rescued, nor was she in any ambulance.
That meant she was still inside!
But the firefighters wouldn't let him through!
Frowning, Edgar knew the area
around the Harrison family's warehouse wasn't entirely unfamiliar him-
to him his family, the Fergusons, had rented space from the Harrisons before.
If he couldn't get through the front, he'd find another way.
Edgar made his way to the southeastern corner of the warehouse.
Facing the towering flames, Edgar opened his car trunk, pulled out a wool blanket, and doused it with water from
the trunk's supply.
Once the blanket was soaked, he draped it over his head and charged into the inferno from the southeast corner.

mentally prepared for the possibility that he might not find Sherilyn in the vastness of the Harrison family's
warehouse.
But having witnessed her abduction. right before his eyes, and now having tracked her here, he couldn't

just stand by and do nothing
Perhaps, just maybe, he'd find her. Even if there was a one in ten thousand chance, he had to try.
Because that one in ten thousand chance might be Sherilyn's only shot at survival.
Edgar braved the interior, dodging the most intense fire as much as possible.
Water continuously fell from above-firefighters in action. The fire seemed to be weakening gradually.
Amidst the intertwining of firelight and smoke, Edgar was quickly soaked through.
"Sherilyn, Sherilyn!"
Every so often, Edgar would lift the blanket, looking around and calling out.
"Sherilyn, are you there? Can you hear me?"
"Sherilyn, if you can hear me, please respond, okay?"
